ISI Inspection Report 2025
We are delighted to share the outstanding results of our recent ISI Inspection.
The report reaffirms our commitment to strong pastoral care, an inclusive ethos, and academic excellence. A particular highlight was the recognition of Hertford Prep’s “kind and mutually supportive” community as a “significant strength”, a commendation awarded to only 11% of schools nationwide.
The inspectors highlighted the inclusive ethos, strength of leadership, the quality of teaching, and the outstanding personal development of pupils. They also praised our safeguarding practices, SEND provision, and the nurturing environment we provide for every child.
The report praised the curriculum for both its breadth and creativity, including opportunities for outdoor learning that brings subjects to life. They also emphasised our teacher’s strong subject knowledge and varied methods to ensure pupils make excellent progress, often working beyond national age-related expectations.
Inspectors noted pupils’ enthusiasm for learning and their kindness towards one another, reflecting the school’s strong ethos of respect and equality.
Douglas Brown, Head, reflected "these commendations reflect the very heart and soul of the school. Each member of staff has played their part in achieving this result, and I thank you all for your continued commitment and passion – this recognition is richly deserved."
The report reflects the emphasis we place on offering a truly all-round education, with our pupils at the centre of everything we do. It also showcases the safe and inspiring environment we strive to create. We are immensely proud that these values have been recognised, and of the dedication shown by our pupils, staff, and entire school community.
