Hertford Prep School Appoints New Head for September 2026
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Emily Jenner as our next Head, with effect from September 2026. Mrs Jenner will succeed Mr Brown, who will move on to become the next Head of Cobham Hall.
Mrs Jenner joins from Lyonsdown School, where she has served as Deputy Head since 2022. During her tenure, she has played a pivotal role in strengthening both academic provision and pastoral care. In 2025, Lyonsdown was named Small Independent School of the Year at the Independent School Awards, reflecting the strength of its educational offering.
Prior to this, Mrs Jenner spent five years as Assistant Head at Grimsdell, Mill Hill Pre Prep, and earlier in her career was a primary teacher and Design and Technology lead at Tiverton School. She also brings wider educational experience as a primary school governor, an ISI Team Inspector, and as the IAPS North London Lead for Early Years.
On her appointment, Mrs Jenner said:
‘I am honoured and excited to have been appointed as the next Head of Hertford Prep. The school’s commitment to nurturing the whole child resonates strongly with my belief that truly high-quality education is achieved when ambitious academic provision is underpinned by outstanding pastoral care. I cannot wait to start in September and look forward to meeting the pupils, staff and parents during the Summer Term.’
Antony Spencer, CEO of the Mill Hill Education Group, commented:
‘Within a very strong field, Emily Jenner stood out for her exceptional warmth and intelligence, as well as her deep connection with the Hertford Prep ethos. I have every confidence that she will build on Doug Brown’s outstanding leadership of the last 10 years and that Hertford Prep’s future is in very good hands.’
Leon Roberts, Director of Prep Schools, added:
‘Emily Jenner has all of the right qualities and experience to make a tremendous impact on this wonderful school. I look forward to working closely with her and seeing how she continues the great work of her predecessor, Doug Brown, in taking Hertford Prep from strength to strength.’
This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the school.
There will be many opportunities for the Hertford Prep community to meet Mrs Jenner in the coming months, including at the upcoming coffee morning on Friday 24 April. A smooth and seamless transition is already underway, with close collaboration planned in the lead-up to September.
